Waterloo Battle Day - Final Post

The ladies in the kitchen always have a great sense of humour and occasion!

Thanks for all of you who have stayed focused through the masses of photographs and my commentary on what was a great day.

As a change I wanted to highlight the wonderful people who attended, played, assisted, fed and humoured us for the day.

To all of them a very fond and heartfelt thanks!

Honorary French Consul Patrick Kedemos receives a gift from yours truly on behalf of the wonderful team
at the NWS and its members.  He would shortly roll the first dice for firing of the French Grand Battery!

The Cards enjoy a quick drink before Marcognet returns to battle!

One of the most intelligent initiatives we had put in place during the day was to have someone dedicated to welcoming visitors, liaising with the umpires and ensuring all was moving well.  We are very fortunate at the NWS to have Mike W, former President and current Life Member who has the charm, calmness and keen wit to pull of the role of NWS Waterloo Concierge, to a tee.  He even dressed for the occasion and awarded Tricolour Rosettes to the French players in the D'Erlons attack game.

Our Concierge Mike and Jean-Phillipe.

Steve, Martin, Ben and Chris observe the lie of the land.  Great players with heaps of fun had by all.

What better way to have a break than in the sun with a pint!  Richard, Andrew, Dave, Marty, Chris and Oliver
soak up the Australian rays!

Ben, Stephen, Steve B and Simon look on as Chris entertains us all.

Steve B, Ben and Steve Y look quite content.

After the conclusion of the battle we awarded what else but...Waterloo Medals!  These included "Die Hard" - awarded to Marty H for his magnificent defence of La Haye Sainte, "Beau Sabreur" for the best cavalry attack of the game and awarded to Ben for his sterling work with the Scots Greys.

Phil received the Marshall's Baton, Marty S the "To the Last man" and Alex the much coveted "He Did What?" medal for rolling extraordinary dice all battle - some very good and some very bad!

Medals for the various players - well done lads!!

Happy lads one and all.
Thanks again ladies.

Stephen N had brought in some of his own Napoleonic items to entertain the masses.

Original cannon ball

This was a favourite amongst our visitors.

Even the girls got in the spirit - Kerry and Chrissie impersonating "The Duellists"

The entire team - from left to right: Marty S, Steve, Cookie, Ben(back), Alex, Carlo, Lachlan (front), Marty H,
Chris, Mike W and Andrew C.

Master of Ceremonies, Concierge to the Stars, Mike the Magnificent!!
Thanks to Rod Steiger for keeping children and adults entertained during the day.  Great initiative Marty H.

Cookie and I promised to be good to each other all day - mission 99% accomplished.  For the record - he was mistaken
in his interpretation :^)

Lots of interest, but what is Dave B up to near the order table?

Great Waterloo Napoleons Battle game put on by Mark H.

What shall we do next year?
